Fibre connections The Allied Telesyn range of Fast Ethernet Media converters provides a complete family of conversion devices, allowing users to extend the size of UTP networks with the use of fibre cabling. Supporting both SC and ST fibre connectors, these converters can be used to extend networks with up to 2km of fibre. Auto-negotiation and MissingLink™ The MissingLink™ feature enables the fibre optic ports on the media converter to pass the ‘Link’ status of their connections to each other. When the media converter detects a problem with one of the ports, such as the loss of connection to an end-node, the media converter shuts down the connection to the other port, thus notifying the node that the connection has been lost. Simple installation Both media converters feature an internal MDI/MDI-X switch, allowing the converter to be connected to either a PC, hub or switch with a simple UTP cable. The media converters also allow the installer to test the integrity of fibre connection, by forcing the converters to communicate over the fibre cable. This ‘Link Test’ feature allows installers to check for cable faults without the need for expensive fibre-optic test equipment. Standalone or rackmounted Each small media converter is powered by an external power supply unit for use in standalone applications.Where multiple media converters are being used, up to 12 standalone devices can be inserted into a low cost rackmount chassis, allowing all the converters to be powered by a single internal power supply. In critical applications, a second load sharing internal power supply can be installed into the rackmount chassis.
Gigabit Ethernet to Fiber Mini Media and Rate Converter This standalone mini media and rate converter features 10/100/1000T to 1000SX conversion with a multi-mode ST fiber connector and supports from 220 m to 500 m. It is compatible with the MMCR18 rack-mount chassis. Copper to Fiber Mini Media and Rate Converters Overview The Allied Telesis MMC Series of mini media converters leverages its smaller size to not only help the environment with a small carbon footprint, but also to save space in its working environment. Despite its compact size, the MMC Series delivers all the power and functionality of standard size media converters. Extend Networks The MMC Series are available in 100Mbps or 1000Mbps models. Depending on the model chosen, the fiber-optic port has options for fixed SC, ST, LC or SFP connectors capable of multi-mode or single-mode fiber connectivity. The twisted-pair copper port has an RJ-45 connector supporting either 100Mbps or 1000Mbps, with a maximum operating distance of 100 meters (328 feet). VLAN Support Many new backbone switch products now support the industry-standard IEEE 802.1Q specification for Virtual LANs (VLANs) that send extra-long data packets on the network. The MMC Series are fully compatible with these long packets, enabling them to be used in modern networks. Media converters not supporting this feature discard these extra long packets, making them unsuitable for modern networks. Small and Flexible The smaller size and external power supply of the MMC Series allows them to be used almost anywhere. Smart MissingLink (SML) The Smart MissingLink™ (SML) feature monitors network connections and provides notification when network segments fail, allowing network managers to quickly identify the source and location of failed segments and minimize downtime. Smart Link Restoration Smart Link restoration allows the devices, in cases of power failure, link loss or other interrupted service, to automatically restore the link without the need to restart/reset them. Power Saving The MMC Series continues the Allied Telesis commitment to the environment with over 50% power savings. With just 1.7W of power usage, the MMC Series media converters are some of the most efficient in the market today. Link Test The link test is a fast and easy way for you to test the connections between the media converter ports and the connected end nodes. If a network problem occurs, you can perform a link test to determine which port is experiencing a problem, and focus your troubleshooting efforts on the right cable or end node.
Gigabit Small Form-Factor Pluggable ModulesThe Allied Telesis SP Series delivers flexible, full-duplex Ethernet connectivity. These hot-swappable fiber and copper interfaces simply plug into the SFP slot on all SFP-compatible devices. Configuration can be optimized to meet a wide variety of distance and service requirements.CompatibilityAllied Telesis SP Series Small Form-Factor Pluggables (SFPs) are supported on Allied Telesis devices with SFP uplink connections*.SP Series SFPs are Multi-Sourcing Agreement (MSA)-compliant, and fully adhere to industry standard networking regulations. This allows the SP Series to be used with other MSA-compliant platforms that support SFP uplink connections.OptionsSP Series SFPs offer short-haul,long-haul and Bi-Directional (BiDi) solutions. This flexibility allows network managers to easily extend network distance and bandwidth. Using an SFP BiDi transceiver can upgrade transmission capacity on a typical network—without installing new fibers—by utilizing a single fiber for both the send and receive signals.Multiple temperature rangesDifferent network environments call for a variety of temperature ranges. The SP Series is available in standard (0-70°C), industrial (-40 to 85°C), and extended (-40 to 105°C) temperature variants.
The Allied Telesis GS910 Series offers unmanaged Gigabit switching solutions for the desktop, and small networks. The series has internal and external power supply versions, and also features network loop guard technology, which automatically detects any unexpected network loops, and prevents network devices from broadcast packet storms. With minimal to no set-up, GS910 Series switches provide simple and seamless connectivity to existing network infrastructure. Each unmanaged switch is backed with a lifetime limited warranty.
The Allied Telesis CentreCOM® GS970M/18PS Layer 3 managed switch features sixteen 10/100/1000T Gigabit Ethernet ports and two 100/1000X SFP ports for secure connectivity at the network edge.
DMC Series Gigabit Desktop USB-Powered Media Converters The Allied Telesis DMC Series of Gigabit mini media converters are among the smallest media converters in the market today. Overview At just 1.25 inches wide × 3.6 inches deep × 0.85 inches high, Allied Telesis DMC Series media converters can easily fit into the palm of a hand. In addition to being compact—with a small carbon footprint—the DMC Series can also be powered with the included Micro USB to USB cable, and plugged directly into a laptop or PC or may also be powered via the optional AC/DC adapter. This saves installation time and cabling as there are no further power requirements.
